The Flavel - More Than Just Your Local Arts Centre...!

I really enjoyed being involved with the recent Charity Beer Festival hosted by the Flavel - spent most of the time on the door meeting, greeting and saying goodbye to a lot of happy people but that was fine by me.

Interesting to note how many commented on the amazing transformation of the Flavel auditorium, all decked out in her finery to host the Festival.

It's true that she does scrub up very well for a special event and it has to be said that Mick, Sid and all the other helpful Flavel guys involved really had pulled out all the stops to create a great atmosphere which - it was generally agreed - really added to the occasion.

Some people had never even been inside the Flavel before so were quite blown away - they'd had no idea that a simple auditorium could be made to look quite so brilliant. Others who had already visited the venue declared themselves very impressed by the transformation.

The celebrated seating...

As mentioned in my previous blog post, many people couldn't get over the fact that the auditorium could also be turned into a cinema or theatre with raked seating - literally at the touch of a button! Seemed to be quite a talking point...

It emerged that, sadly, it's a little known fact just how many functions this versatile venue can provide.
For instance:

L - R: Mick, Sid and Sally taking delivery of great new staging

I am sure you must all know about the cinema, the live theatre and music events, the live streaming theatre and concert events etc...

...hello, we're back to the famous disappearing raked seating again!..

...and that the Flavel now has some fantastic new staging for live music events/talks and so on.

But did you know that:

Flavel Folk having Fun...

The Main Hall can accommodate up to 240 people - making it eminently suitable for community and  educational events, conferencing, weddings, parties and so on.

I have even been present when a wake was taking place there...
and very respectful it was too.
